Hey there everyone…Well this is going to be our last client blog for 2011…that’s right Krystina and David were the last lucky couple to book us here at S&R for the 2011 calender year. Now in a perfect setting Rodney and I would vote that the last wedding of the year we shoot be pretty much a huge success for images, gorgeous light, amazing couple, and most importantly one heck of a party LOL. Well as you will see from the below images, that’s exactly what we got :) You may remember a few months back we worked with a local dancer, Jeanine, well thanks to her we got to meet her sister Krystina and here we are posting one of our most memorable weddings of 2011. Now one thing we don’t get too often here in Jacksonville is a heavily influenced..how do I say this…”Northern” crowd…which those of you who know me…Well the Fact that I don’t have the New York Yankees logo tattooed on me yet is surprising. So thanks to Krystina and David bringing all of Jersey and the rest of the north with them, I felt right at home…and Rodney pretty much blended in right away when the DJ started playing Biggie Smalls’ Juicy :) Now I do want to point out 1 item to all you brides out there…Krystina and David choose to see each other Prior to the ceremony. Rodney and I love it when our couples choose this option because it gives us soooo much more time to shoot and capture some stunning, unrushed images. We def were lucky though as it was such a beautiful day…the light was amazing, the dress was stunning on Krystina, and David surprised us all with the GQ look and swagger…so I guess enough with the rambling..onto the images :)

Gorgeous

I love how quickly these two change from serious pose to non stop laughing

Love the location…love the pose

Watch out ladies….He’s taken

Krystina def knows how to work the camera

Party time !

Now I had to throw this image in because right after I took this shot I got hit right in the face with that towel…I would like to report that no cameras were harmed in the making of this shot :)

Aweee Yeaaa…..Gotta have the S&R signature shot

Krystina and David tearin it up

As Rodney and I close out 2011 we want to thank all of our couples this year for some great memories and some amazing images. Take care and enjoy your holiday together. And by all means please stay tuned as we have plenty to share with you soon…like Maybe a new Logo…Maybe a new look and feel to the blog…Maybe

Until Next time…Brian

Hey everyone…we are back with another great set of images form our favorite location, the Ritz Carlton at Amelia Island. Our featured couple today is from a little further north but fell in love with Amelia Island and as a result, they decided to share this special place with their family and friends. Now I def have to say that Ashley gets the golden ticket for the most prepared bride we have ever worked with, Ashley booked us almost a year and a half in advance ! Most couples get with us 6-8 months prior, but Ashley had all of her wishes in order and booked us fast :) What you will see from the below images is that we had a wonderful afternoon on the beach with Ashley and Vince’s closest family and friends which made for a picture perfect setting (no pun intended :) ). I could also go on and on about the wind and cold as well, it was unseasonably cool and the wind was crazy…def made it a challenge to get some good shots with everyone’s hair in one spot. Looking back Rodney and I had a blast getting to hang out with these 2, we even got an impromptu performance of the “kid-n-play” which Rodney and I were lovin, until we realized that dated us quite a few years and our excitement for it was like a new toy on Christmas :) . I hope everyone enjoys these few sneak peaks as much as we enjoyed taking them

You know we cant have a blog post without some S&R creativity :)

Until Next Time…Brian

Hey there everyone, we are back with a great set of images for you, Once again from one of our Favorite spots to shoot a wedding, The Ritz Carlton at Amelia Island….with a twist…at the Golf Club :) . A little over 6 months ago Rodney and I meet up with our featured couple here, we knew right away from the descriptions that we would have a pretty fun and unique image opportunity. Now keep in mind our number 1 priority is always making sure the bride and the event are captured as beautifully and as artistically as possible through our lenses, But every once in a while we get to play around and maximize our gear, and our abilities behind the camera. As you will see from the below images we had a ton of fun shooting this killer “Super Hero” image and then we had even more fun as the sun disappeared and the night came out to play. We had a beautiful setup on a cool soon to be winter night, the music and mood were just right some some very intimate and awe-inspiring moments. We hope you enjoy these sneak peaks..and as always, keep checking back for more blog updates :)

Hey there everyone…well as promised I am back with a much anticipated post, my sons birth announcement ! A lot of thought went into how and what my wife and I wanted to shoot, so naturally we came up with 10 solid shot ideas. Well…having 10 solid shot ideas and a newborn that actually cares about 1 shot, let alone 10….well find that kid and give him a bottle of the high octane because my kid…we were lucky to get this shot before he threw a fit and christened my shirt and pants (no diaper = you are asking for it !!) . But when your little one does cooperate, and you capture a moment like this, it just solidifies what a miracle having a child is and how truly beautiful they are. Words can’t express what my wife and I feel now for our son, the closest description would be overwhelming love and affection, and a huge sense of pride :) I hope you enjoy his birth announcement and def check back often for updates :)

And here is the actual announcement with the text and watermark :)

Until next time…

Entering the fall season, we had 2 concerns: 1.) Will Brian and I be eligible to upgrade to the next iPhone, and 2.) Will the birth of Brian’s first child cause him to miss a gig?

Well, it’s a “no” for both. It’s a no-go for the 4S (at least for the time being), and Brian will be posting something regarding his new beautiful son in the coming days… :-)

On to Nadia and Suraj. A two-day event at the now familiar Ritz Carlton, it was hands down one of the most wonderfully and meticulously decorated weddings we have ever had the pleasure of attending. Nadia’s gowns certainly didn’t disappoint, either. Enchantingly colorful as they were elegant, it was a refreshing change from the conventional garb Brian and I are used to seeing. Couple this with an incredibly intricate henna tattoo ornamenting her hands and forearms, and our cameras started shaking with excitement.

Or maybe my 5 Hour Energy was just kicking in. On with the pics…

So after all the Shazam’ing Brian’s iPhone could handle (I think he bought the DJ’s entire playlist when he got home that night) and all the curry we could eat, we concluded what was perhaps the best October wedding we’ve ever had.

And this was even BEFORE we hit Denny’s. :-P

Congrats to Nadia and Suraj!

Another June weekend, another wedding at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  Not that Brian and I are complaining; it’s a beautiful venue, and Erin and Phong’s wedding rounded out a great month of shoots. After the ceremony, Erin had the fantastic idea of grabbing some shots at the newly renovated Friendship Fountain, and the location did not disappoint.  Harsh light in the open, but some smooth light in the shade.  Also, most of pavement surrounding the fountain has been replaced with flowers and soft grass.  Great contrast to the normal benevolent concrete jungle that runs our lives.  And as always, few things are ever more impressive than a full bridal party braving the heat for 20-30 minutes to take pictures….whilst smiling, mind you.

Just next time remind me to check for damp grass….walking around the reception with wet-butt wasn’t exactly comfortable.

Where was I?

That’s the question I asked myself as I stood there, watching my only sister get married in a dress that perhaps few women her age
could pull off.

Where was I?

Where was I when I realized that my sister would no longer be the condescending, omnipotent sibling who only found her younger brother
to be an annoying, insufferable cry-baby who’s usefulness rarely ventured beyond the capacity of simply absorbing the unwarranted
oppression a middle-child often reflects from her parents.  Where was I when I realized that my sister would no longer just laugh if I
fell off my bike, but also help me up and find me band-aid afterwards?  When did it all change?

1986: my first day of 3rd Grade at Grove Park Elementary.  It was a wet, misty morning as my sister walked me quietly to my
homeroom portable building at the edge of the school campus.  Nobody was there yet; just myself and a Return of the Jedi lunchbox. It
was also Chantelle’s first year of being a school patrol (who’s only duty, if I remember correctly, was to tell students to get off the
grass and stay on the sidewalks).  She wore the bright orange sash proudly, dropped me off in front of my building and then walked away.  At
that age I still wasn’t all that thrilled being alone in places.

And my sister knew this.

She took 5 steps, turned around, and gently asked me, “You gonna be ok?”
“Yes”, I replied, smiling.
Chantelle nodded, and walked off.

Now how come I can remember this moment in such crazy detail (I can even remember the way the air smelled) but can’t recall how to
conjugate Spanish verbs after 2 High School semesters?

Because that’s where I was.

That’s where I realized my older sister was going to be different than most. She was going to be the cool sister who wouldn’t mind my
riding her coattails of popularity in Junior High, or flirting with the Raider dance team when she’s their captain in High School.
She wouldn’t mind helping me fix my hair in 7th grade (note: the perm was her idea), or showing me how to dress from 8th-9th.  She
won’t mind when her brothers turn her Barbie-mobile into an A-Team van, or when she’s playing “store” in her room and my cousin and I
rob it.  And she certainly won’t mind painting my toenails while I’m sleeping when I piss her off.

Most amazingly, my sister won’t ever mind, well, me.  And that changed everything.

25 years later I’m watching that same sister walk up the aisle as a married woman, each click of my camera accompanied by a different memory
of our growing up.  Impromptu dance routines, NKOTB concerts, tight-rolling and Z-Cavaricci, Niagra Falls, illegal raves in Indiana, and of course, Tae-Kwon-Do.  It was all there.  There were fisticuffs, sure, but we came together when it counted.

And still do.

And as I watched her take her first dance with her new husband, I suddenly thought of the one person that will ever be luckier than Buddy:  Chantelle’s son.

That’s right, I called it :-)

Congrats, sis.  And thank you.

–Love, Rodney

Hey there everyone…Well Rodney and I are back with another great blog post. A few weekends ago we had an amazing time shooting Alana and Leo. Months ago we meet with these two and started out our planning and during our various meetings we kinda kept one item on our radar…the FL heat ! Now we were assuming that yea…Labor Day weekend will be hot…well we were right !! Must have been a record that day but in now way did it stop us form getting some amazing images, and it def didn’t stop Alana and Leo from having a fantastic wedding day on the river as well as one heck of a party ! Now I wont get into too many details about the reception but I will say that Rodney and I may have some explaining to do regarding our inability to stand still when 69 Boyz – Tootsie Roll gets played by the DJ…(Must be all those years watching MTV Spring Break !?!?!?). Hands Down Alana & Leo’s wedding was a great day, from the prep, the dress (Which Alana looked Amazing in), the easy going bridal party, the amazing setting on the water, and the great set of family and friends they shared their day with. I hope everyone enjoys these sneak peaks and also joins me in wishing these two a great life of happiness together.

Love it when prep shots turn out like this…Killer light !

Alana and her girls before the ceremony

Love this shot of the guys…has a Soprano’s feel to it

Jacksonville’s river front set the scene for the ceremony

Now you know we have to sneak in a few shots with some S&R style to them :)

It’s been a while since Rodney and I did a walking shot setup and when this crew was all together we said we had to try it..I think it worked out :)

Party Time !

Until Next Time…Brian

Hey there blog stalkers….I wanted to share with all of you two really fun, amazing, and crazy funny video’s that our fellow photographers in the industry have put together. Sit back, relax, and get ready to laugh and smile…Oh and if watching at work….better get the earphones ready.

This first vid is rather old (posted about a year ago) from a very talented photogtrapher, Joey L. For all of us photogs the pouplar swear word of choice is either Nikon or Canon (For Rodney and I…Nikon is the “No-No” word :)

Nikon Girl music video, the Photo Club from Joey L on Vimeo.

This next video is starting to go viral real fast, this is a same day edit shot right at the wedding while everything was going on, how crazy is that !!! This was a huge effort to accomplish and it worked out fantastically !!
